ABOUT Grace Rickman
Grace earned a bachelor’s degree in Global Studies with a minor in Public Health from the University of Tennessee, where she was also a member of the varsity women’s rowing team. Through her involvement in the VOLeaders Academy and the Global Immersion Scholars Program, she was introduced to sport-for-development and first traveled to Rwanda to partner with Shooting Touch. Prior to her time at UT, Grace served with AmeriCorps at a community clinic in Milwaukee, gaining experience in public and community health, and has supported health initiatives across Peru, Ecuador, Kenya, and Zambia. She is passionate about using sport to advance health and opportunity and is excited to contribute to Shooting Touch’s mission in Rwanda.

Please support my fellowship campaign
I am excited to share with you that I will be joining the nonprofit, Shooting Touch, as part of their Fellowship Program in Rwanda, Africa. Shooting Touch is an international sport-for-development organization that uses the mobilizing power of basketball to bridge health and opportunity gaps for youth and women facing racial, gender, and economic inequalities. In Rwanda, Shooting Touch serves over 1,000 youth (ages 7-21), and 1,800 women (ages 21+) in six (6) rural communities in the Republic of Rwanda’s Eastern Province.
As a Fellow, I will live and serve in Shooting Touch communities, working alongside local staff and partners to coordinate and strengthen programs that empower youth and women through access to sport. I will support coaches in facilitating daily programs that include health education and interventions, community health testing events, campaigns promoting gender and health equity, and more.
I am reaching out today in the hope that you will join me in supporting my fellowship journey and the incredible work that Shooting Touch is doing throughout Rwanda. As part of my Fellowship, I have been asked to raise $5,000 to help provide the communities we serve with vital resources such as health care coverage, disease testing, health education, and daily basketball programming. I am truly grateful for every contribution that helps make this life-changing work possible!
With Gratitude,
Grace
