What is Shooting Touch?

Shooting Touch is an international nonprofit organization based in Boston, Massachusetts whose vision is to create a world where people from disadvantaged communities have the opportunity to reach their fullest potential.  The mission is to use the power of sport to educate and empower at-risk youth, women and their communities to live healthier lives.

Since its inception in 2007, Shooting Touch has grown from a grassroots basketball program in the United States to an international non-governmental organization that has served over 25,000 youth and women from six different countries. Shooting Touch uses the convening power of basketball to achieve these objectives: 1) Promote equal access to physical activity and wellness; and 2) Provide health monitoring and health educational services.

Shooting Touch implements two signature sport-for-development programs:

ST Boston: Providing 175 girls ages 9-17, with opportunities to participate in supportive and female-friendly programming that provides on- and off-court health education, mentorship, empowerment and academic support.

ST Rwanda: Serving over 1,000 youth, ages 7-21, and 400 women 21+, from 4 rural communities in the Republic of Rwanda’s Eastern Province.

What is the Young Professionals Board?

As Shooting Touch continues to grow and embark on their journey to use the power of sport to educate and empower at-risk youth, women, and their communities, they aim to cultivate the next generation of leaders in the Greater Boston area to become involved in carrying out their mission and vision.
