Shooting Touch is an international sport-for-development organization that uses the power of sport to educate and empower at-risk youth, women and their communities to live healthier lives. Since its inception in 2007, the organization has impacted over 25,000 youth and women worldwide through its innovative, outcome-driven programing. Today the organization leverages the sport of basketball to extend health services and health education in both Boston and in Rwanda.

The organization is seeking a Shooting Touch Boston (STB) Program Director. The position will primarily be responsible for running all aspects of the organization’s domestic programming currently providing 150 girls ages 9-17, with opportunities to participate in supportive and female-friendly programming that provides on- and off-court health education, mentorship, empowerment and academic support.

The position will be based in Boston, MA and salary is commensurate with experience.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with all female youth participants, parents, coaches, volunteers, and Boston Police Department Officers

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the STB program including curriculum, implementation, monitoring, evaluating, reporting, and surveying

  • Assist in designing the STB curriculum and pre- and post-surveys

  • Manage all head coaches, program deliverers, and the facilitation of the STB AAU program

  • Develop relationships with key City officials and partners to increase the number of females enrolled in the STB program

  • Work with STB program staff to manage all event, fundraisers, and social gatherings

  • Serve as main contact for the Shooting Touch Boston Program and primary contact and logistical coordinator for all “earned income” events, including but not limited to - road race/athletic events and online fundraising initiative

  • Be present, visible, and active at all after-school STB programming

  • Be a thought and action partner for Shooting Touch’s Executive Director; serve as the eyes and ears of the organization on the ground

  • Work with the Executive Director on the intersection of programming, business, and fundraising strategies

  • Work with the Shooting Touch Executive Director, Director of Operations, and Grants Consultant on grants and partnership proposals

  • Be a strong voice of opinion in the 5-year strategic plan

Ideal Candidate:

  • An individual that has a sincere passion for urban female youth development, social impact, basketball and public health

  • Experience with basketball, either coaching or playing

  • Experience working with youth; someone who can easily relate to the girls and be viewed as an ally and role model

  • Someone who is willing to go above and beyond; an individual that truly believes in Shooting Touch’s mission

  • A problem solver who takes initiative and delivers results without need for constant supervision; also someone who knows when to ask for help and when to bring in other team members

  • A self starter who is quick, efficient, and thinks ahead

  • Reliable, organized, and detail-oriented; someone who can be trusted once delegated a task that it will be completed in a timely, calm, and considered manner

  • Smart communication skills and savviness with social media; can effectively communicate updates to the Hive partners and broader team

  • Someone who has a flexible approach and willingness to go the extra mile to deliver great work

  • An overall team player that is willing to be a part of a small and growing team; no job is too big or too small for any member of our team
